The draw of participants in the 3rd Galina Vishnevskaya International Opera Singers Competition took place on June 1 at 12:00 noon at the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre. In her greeting to the participants, the chairman of the jury, Galina Vishnevskaya, wished them success in their performances, inspiration, confidence in their abilities and good luck.
The gala opening of the Competition took place at 7:00 p.m. The members of the jury were introduced by Elena Oparkova, the general director of the Competition. Galina Vishnevskaya once again extended her greetings to all concerned as they embarked on their marathon. Yury Laptev, an advisor to the President of the Russian Federation and a guest of honor at the opening, read a greeting to the participants from Dmitry Medvedev. Deputy head of the Moscow City Department of Culture, Andrei Porvatov then read a greeting from co-chairman of the Competition, Mayor Yury Luzhkov.
The official ceremony was followed by a concert of prize winners of the 2nd Galina Vishnevskaya International Opera Singers Competition.
